From the Mad Circus Festival people:Q: The event description says the festival will be over 2 days, is that true?
A: We plan to keep going as long as we’re not being shut down by police, or if we run out of petrol for the generator, or if we’re out of beer and coffee
Q: Will there be food for sale or should I eat before I come
A: Yes there will probably be a few food stalls, they might run out of food depending on the amount of people coming, so we don’t really know
Q: I’m very clumsy and will probably cut my foot on a stone that's laying on the beach
A: No worries! We have a small first aid booth that can give you a bandaid, maybe even with a smiley face on it! You are responsible for your own well being and accept all liability for loss or personal injury.
Q: I’m a smoker, where do i leave my cigarette buts?
A: Not on the beach, not in the ocean, not in my beer! We’ll hang a few ‘but bins’ around the festival terrain, please dispose of your cigarrete buts there, or put them in your empty beer can.
Q: I’ve read that I’ve to give a mandatory 100hkd donation to the charity, why is that?
A: We’re putting in a lot of time, effort and money to make this festival happen, we try to break even on the costs that we made for doing this, and all the extra money goes to the charity. It’s a great cause that helps to get books to children that normally wouldn’t have access to them.
We will not make any profit on this festival ourselves.
Q: Will you provide us with toilet facilities?
A: There aren’t any toilets on this beach. The nearest public toilets are on Hung Shing Yeah beach, which is a 10-15min walk.
Q: I read that there is a campsite - what's that about?
A: We’re expecting people to also come from out of Lamma - so if you want to stay overnight - bring a tent, mat/mattress/warm sleeping bag and join us at the campsite!
Q: What kind of music can I expect?
A: Pretty much everything, we’ll start of with some oldschool tunes, some reggae etc and then we’ll probably change this into a more dub/dance/techno style later in the night
Q: You guys are really cool
A: Thanks, we like you too
Q: What can I do to support you guys.
A: Keep the beach clean, see some trash? pick it up and throw it in a bin. Also if you decide to take glass to the beach (wine bottles / corona etc) - please don’t leave them laying in the sand - when finished throw them in a bin. We had someone stepping in to a broken wine bottle at the last festival and we don’t want that happening again!
Q: Will there be some bonfires?
A: yes, we’d appreciate if you can help to keep them going, but don’t cut down the complete forest and burn down the stage.
Q: December is a pretty expensive month for me and I don’t have enough money to buy beers from the beach bars, is it ok to bring some drinks myself?
A: Sure, take whatever you want, but we’d rather have it if you buy some beers and drinks from our bars to support the festival. Also throw your empty cans/bottles in the trash and don’t keep ‘m laying around!
Q:I don’t really like Techno music, does Jake really have to play?
A: Yeah, we tried to convince him to play some Abba music, but he’s being a dick about it
