"The Upcycling Festival (creating something new out of something lightly used (plastic drinking water bottles) is this weekend at the Football pitch in YSW starting at 11 am each day for both days of the 19th and 20th Oct.

It is being organized by the Eco Education Resources Centre AKA 'Lamma Corner' next to the Bookworm cafe.

There will be some bands in the evening until 10 pm. I believe Jo Wilson's husband Jack's band is playing.

Do come and support this event!
This term, the children from Island Arts after school art group have made some up cycled items and we will be displaying their bracelets, watering cans, flower vases and bowls on our little stall. Some of them have also made posters or Infographics about plastic bottles.

Please come and help us create a collection of 365 bottles (one for everyday of the year) and see what that looks like. If we all buy one water bottle per year this is what you will be throwing into our already full land fills. Come and see how much space this many bottles take up by helping us to collect the 365 bottles! After this we will put them in the recycling bins or up cycle them.

I will be there Sat morning from 11- 1.30 and Sunday afternoon from 1 pm onwards.

Education is the only answer to our growing plastic waste problem and our children are our future! Come and find out what you can do to change your lifestyle a tiny bit to reduce your plastic consumption.

If you need to drink water, Please bring a refillable bottle and fill it from the large bottles provided. No plastic drinks bottles will be sold at this event."
