The Lamma Fun Day will be happening again this year, after a break, on Sat, Nov 24. The organisation committee will be meeting this Sunday, discussing the progress of the numerous tasks ahead to make it happen, especially attracting the large number of volunteers with many different skills required to make it successful. Any input from people reading this forum would be most appreciated. I've just been informed that the dead Fun Day website will not be revived and the main promotion will be Facebook-only - http://www.facebook.com/LammaFunDay2012 - plus any free publicity they can get from any media, including this website. For public viewing, there are no stories and only 16 photos left from all former Fun Days, plus the dozens of stories and huge number of photos accessible in the "10-year archive" of Lamma's recent history, this website. Your comments and ideas on how to make the Fun Day a great success for visitors and fundraisers alike, please post them here or in their Facebook "cause" page. Help them to increase their number of Friends beyond the currently 16 likes. They'll need at least hundreds or hopefully even thousands of likes and frequent updates to make it a great and successful Facebook event, attracting the crowds they're hoping for. Event marketing on Facebook is an art and a science, from online PR, promotions, buzz-generation to visitor traffic metrics. It's also getting more and more difficult, demanding and time-consuming, as any Interactive Marketing Consultant, like myself, can tell you. Want to learn more or need some help? Contact me.

If you would like to donate to the bric-a-brac stall, please send an email to pbovitz@gmail.com I will be happy to make arrangements for collection closer to the day. You are also welcome to bring it down on the day of Lamma Fun Day. Whichever is easiest for you. |

The final poster for Lamma Fun Day 2012, courtesy of Harry & Bill! Lamma Fun Day writes: "Dear Friends, Lamma Fun Day is on Saturday 24th November – for the 12th time! Come join the fun! Every year our bric-a-brac (2nd hand items) section raises a lot for children in Nepal – Thank you! We would be grateful if you could take the time to do some clearing – we take anything second hand, as long as it’s clean. Books, DVDs, shoes, toys and clothes sell really well but we welcome other things too. Remember, one man's garbage is another man's gold! For Central drop off: Monday 5thNov, Tuesday 6th Nov, Monday 12th Nov, Tuesday 13th Nov, Monday 19th Nov & Tuesday 20th Nov from 11am to 7pm at the CWS office - Suite 303, St. George’s Building, 2 Ice House Street, Central, Hong Kong. Tel: 2526 8810. For Lamma drop off: Please contact Pam at pbovitz@gmail.com or bring it down on the day!<HR> At Lamma Fun Day every year there is a really fun and challenging volleyball tournament. This year we have decided to keep it simple and assign people to teams when they show up. If you wish to play please arrive at 11am, make a donation of HK$100, and you will be assigned to teams. If you come with friends we will ensure you are on the same team. Teams consist of 5 people and we will aim for 4 to 6 teams in order to maximize court time for players. Tournament will end at 5pm. Please email bj@topexecutive.com for enquiries and to show your interest so we can anticipate numbers in advance. Lamma Fun Day is on Saturday 24th November 2012 at Tai Wan To (Power station beach) in Yung Shu Wan. The winning team gets a pair of Havaianas each!! So come down early and sign up!" Contact zein@cwshk.org if you know any family who might like to join the Lamma Rush treasure hunt, Nov 24, 2-4pm, for free and get the $1,000 entry fee (for charity) sponsored by a Fun Day sponsor: "One of our donor friends in the US would like to offer 4 family team slots to families in Lamma who cannot afford the registration fee but would like to join the Lamma Rush. Do you know anyone who may benefit? I have already approached Hans Anderson charity group but they have activities on that day already. Do you know any other group who may benefit from giving out 4 team slots to give some Lamma families a great afternoon?" |

From Lamma Fun Day: "Food Stall @ Lamma Fun Day 9am-6pm Volunteers will be cooking (offsite), collecting and serving up delicious homemade food at a CWS HK charity stall on Lamma Fun Day. There’s no fixed menu as dishes usually sell out as quickly as they arrive at the Food Stall on Power Station Road. With over 60 nationalities living on Lamma expect to find a very, very tasty mix of international fare with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, including, but not limited to: 9am-12noon: Breakfast muffins, sausage and bacon sandwiches 12pm-6pm: Fried rice, chili, dhal and rice, pizza, stews, fried noodles, baked potatoes, sushi, pasta and vast array of curries! Mana! Slow Fast Food has donated bio-degradable containers. All proceeds from the Food Stall go direct to CWS HK thanks to the support from: Beer Garden, Bluebird Restaurant, Man Kee Restaurant, Pizza Milano, Best Kebab, Andy's Seafood Sau Kee, The Waterfront, The Bookworm Cafe, Cath Hoe, Geng and all our friends who generously donated home-cooked food! THANK YOU!" |
