Roz writes:

"Island Arts Co. is a vibrant after school arts initiative, founded by well-known local painter and art educator Roz Keep.
Now in its fifth year, we have two teachers; Roz who teaches the primary children and Ann Baldoni who teaches the kindergarten aged group.

The classes are held after school hours at the beautiful Banyan House School in Yung Shu Long Valley, 5 minutes walk from Yung Shu Wan village.

The classes specifically seek to celebrate the local community and environment. For example, they have specifically enabled students to become familiar with local flora and fauna, which means your children have opportunities to form relationships with areas of natural beauty on Lamma as they sustain guided observational drawing experiences. Drawing outdoors around Yung Shue Wan helps the children understand and appreciate their surroundings and to engage with nature in a positive and fun way.

Lamma flowers, bees, butterflies, and other garden creatures are used as subject matter for these paintings in watercolour, chalks and collage.

The Yung Shu Wan Waterfront collaboration drawing (see below) was done on location and in the studio by the Primary School aged group.

To enroll in our fun and colourful classes, please contact Roz at rozkeep@hotmail.com or call/text 9348 8726.

"Drawing is a learnable skill like anything. You do not have to be special or born knowing. You can learn it." Roz Keep"
