Post subject:  Bougainvillea
Another big beautiful Bougainvillea was felled today - in Tai Yuen just before the Yan Yan store. It was then chopped into small pieces and stuffed in black plastic bags, presumably destined for a landfill. Just adjacent to the Bougainvillea is a derelict fenced off piece of government land which is choked with Mikania micrantha, an evil ugly weed which would fully justify extirpation.
Who is in charge of this lunacy?

Before & after.

Actually these pics don't show very well the damage the butchers did. It did need a trim, but the morons must have used some machinery to rip the branches off the trees rather than cutting them cleanly. I guess someone complained about it, so the Govt set some local morons on it. At least they left enough for it to grow back, but it'll take a few years, and they'll probably do the same again.

The tree was probably spoiling someones view. Chopping/trimming the tree so the nearby flat rents can stay above $15,000 a month. Landlords/estate agents consider nature a menace.

They are very hardy plants and will grow back quickly, shame about the beautiful flowers.
