The catastrophic vision of “the end of life on Lamma” is materializing between Sok Kwu Wan and Mo Tat Wan. Large section of the coast is being reinforced with massive concrete wall and boulders; lots of construction equipment, concrete batching plant. It is hard to say what is the reason for that project? My guess is it is the need to stabilize the slope above hence the relocation of the existing footpath before doing this. The scale of the disaster is likely as the expected YSW sea wall project. Hope to avoid this inYSW!
If the works are well justified, still it is just an annoyance to see the attempts to mislead the public with pretended care for environment. Labeling the trees may be helping to keep the contractors from cutting and destroying. Sometimes it goes too far as on the photo. The whole group of dead trees are nicely fenced and labeled “Retained Tree”.

This reminds me the story from India – the next photo – trees in compacted road material (major expressway project in Madhya Pradesh) waiting for permission to remove from Forest Department.

This is the Sewage Treatment Plant halfway between SKW and Mo Tat Wan, I assume? It'll be very similar but smaller than the one they're building right now behind the Helipad at the end of the Harbour Reclamation, Phase I - see my photo below, taken today.

I've never seen a "Retained Tree" sign in North Lamma. Does it mean retained dead or alive? The Govt. Dept who put up this unusual sign would probably tell you that the tree hasn't been cut down, so it's "retained".

The seawall and boulders along the seashore will likely be almost identical to the existing ones around the YSW Sewage Treatment Plant.

But are these seashore works extending beyond the Sok Kwu Wan Sewage Treatment Plant? Any photos? I have to bike down there soon and take a closer look.

I was in Suk Kwu Wan early this month and was shocked by the large scale of work carried out along the coast.. Sewage system is good but does the coast need heavy reinforcement?

Those greens are detained, living on apparatus which when removed, will be their last day. I don't believe this Governemt have a true faith in keeping good our nature.
