Tomorrow, June 5 will be the World Environment Day - “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care” - so HK Electric will be pitching media on some new initiatives.
The photo below shows their Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, chaired by Mr. CT Wan (right 3rd), Managing Director of HK Electric.

Submitted by HK Electric.

SUPPORT THE WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

The World Environment Day (WED) is an annual event of the United Nations beginning in 1972 to promote and encourage global positive environmental action. WED activities take place all year round but the climax falls on 5 June, engaging everyone from everywhere. The United Nation’s “World Environment Day 2015” is themed “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care”.

In order to raise the awareness of HK Electric colleagues on environmental issues, climate change, especially on managerial approach on handling natural resources, series of campaigns on green lifestyle covering “apparel, diet, living and transport” will be launched among colleagues. Moreover, the company not only co-ordinate with Salvation Army to collect used clothes from colleagues, but also include a new campaign called the “Book Donation” in partnership with a local NGO, READ-cycling promoting the joy of reading multiples the fun and uses this platform to promote a greener way to reading by helping good old books to find new home.

Avoiding the generation of waste right from the source in the first place and minimizing waste are also central to any waste reduction strategy. To encourage recycling and waste source separation of municipal solid waste, the company will launch a pilot scheme this year in centralizing rubbish bins in Head Office and more than 200 colleagues have pledged to participate in this meaningful trial.

Every effort counts!

Could we hear from other businesses on Lamma about their environmental initiatives, plans and activities, especially today, but any day would be most welcome!
