Sometimes I don't even have to leave home to get a breaking story and pictures in person. Seen this morning from my rooftop in Pak Kok New Village. I'm checking right now if somebody got hurt in this mishap, just besides the HK Electric works on the roadside. {L_ATTACHMENT}:

Two HK Electric guys did a follow-up on yesterday's little accident, inspection and photos, so I had a chat: No injuries, the fire bikes were just on routine patrol, the HK Electric roadside works are internal communication cables for HK Electric, the contractor will have to restore the full path width ASAP. This topic has attracted 34 Likes, 5 Shares and 38, often very interesting comments on my Facebook Timeline so far. Have a look: https://www.facebook.com/Lamma.Gung/posts/10152861383023149 |

Dr. John Wedderburn writes: "16 years ago a fire truck toppled over coming down the Tai Peng hill and crushed the driver to death (outside my house which is now Oliver's). This sensibly resulted in a new design of truck. They also widened the road at that point putting down a lot more concrete and making it possible for the VVs to go much faster - I was knocked down by one. Not seriously hurt but I had a limp for a year." Looks like the papaya tree did not survive the encounter after being hit by the toppling-over fire bike, the tree twisted down to 45 degrees (see photo above). See also the scratch marks on the tree. Time to harvest the papayas before they rot after losing their water/nutrient supply...

This is why I like Lamma. The Fire Bike Accident that made the Breaking News on 20th of August is still the Headline on the Forum. Where else is such a quiet place? |
