I've been living on lamma for about 3 months now and have just been using my iphone to tether to my computer. I live in Sha Po old village and my network is 1010.

Internet through tethering is ok for the most part, and in some cases downloading BBC programmes is quicker compared to green cottage Internet.

The only problem is it is quite poor at night especially when skyping friends or family.

I'm just wondering is pccw any better? Some of the things I've seen here, and my own experience at green cottage would suggest that pccw braodband may not be much better, and I would be stuck with it for 24months.

Any help or advice greatly received!

I've been tethering to my mobile but would like to get a proper DSL service. Went into PCCW yesterday and they quoted me 298 per month with an install fee of 380, minimum contract 24 months. Credit card required. Broadband has been in the flat previously so I'm not sure what they need to install?

Does this sound about right of should I be looking somewhere else. Any advice gratefully received.

Netfront is the same rate and service, but no installation charge and commitment is 6 months.

Installation is bullshit, of course. They just activate it at the exchange and deliver a modem (or ask you to pick it up).
PCCW used to waive it until most of the other companies dropped out of the market. Now they screw you coming and going.
