Archaeological survey alongside Cable Road on Power Station Beach gazetted, the usual 14-day objection period. This survey was probably made necessary because Lands Dept.'s plans for a sizable sitting out area along Cable Road in this same location, announced last year. If the survey won't find anything precious, archaeologically speaking, the construction of these covered benches might go ahead. Tourists sitting there would have a great view just opposite the famous Rock Piling area featured in so many photos and published stories over the years.

Actually, 15 or so years ago, there was an archaeological dig at that site, of a 3000-year old settlement. After the site had been surveyed it was covered over to protect it. Looks like a continuation of that. |
