More info from HK Electric about the Power Station tour on Aug 7:

"Please note according to our new policy for company’s events and visits, insurance has to be arranged for visitors to our Lamma Power Station.

To proceed with such arrangement, the name and number of visitors will be required at least 5 working days prior to the date of visit (i.e. 30 July).

Besides, for safety sake, the upper age limit for visitors shall be 70."

There are still a few places available. Email me at info@Lamma.com.hk

Hi Lamma Gung,
Can I join the tour? Please let me know. Thanks.

(p.s. have tried emailing you directly and using the contact us button on the site but messages bounce back as undeliverable - "service unavailable" and "blocked using dnsbl.sorbs.net")

Yes, there are still a few places available for this tour on Aug 7. 1 or 2 persons (between 15-70 years old)?

Anybody else? Deadline for registration this Wednesday, July 31.

Email LammaGung@gmail.com if you get the same problem as lamma_llama. Probably related to his/her spam filter as other emails to info@Lamma.com.hk, info@Compunicate.com, PMs, WhatsApp, SMS, Facebook messages to me seem to be all getting through daily w/o problems, I think.

If anybody else had any trouble contacting me, using any of the contacts at the top of the home page, please let me know!

I suppose their new policy for having insurance cover was introduced following the ill-fated ferry excursion last October.

Tally Ho, yes, probably.
No need for them having a list of names for insurance purpose on the tours we've done before.

So you can feel safe on the tour. If a piece of coal falls on your head, you'll be insured. Or maybe not, as you'll have to wear a helmet for the entire tour as well.

It's time again for our single, once-yearly guided tour of the Lamma Power Station, organised by HK Electric and myself. I'll be handling the signups, email me at info@Lamma.com.hk.

About half of the group is booked out already by people who registered early seeing the event on the home page or in the Lamma Events Calendar, announced many weeks ago.

People who've never been inside or had to be turned down last year due to oversubscription will get preferential treatment this year:

Here's the description of the tour from our tour guide Edmund Pang, the same very friendly and knowledgeable guide we had last year:

"The maximum group size is 35 and visitors should be 15 years old or above. Facilities to be visited will include Visitor Centre,
solar panel power system, control centre, turbine hall of gas-fired generating unit & coal yard area and visit will end at noon on 15 Aug."

It was nice tour but unfortunately I was not part of it.. My friend was there in tour.. Can you tell when will be next tour organized? I would love to be there..

Maybe this summer. The local interest for this tour isn't so high anymore, as the keenest residents have seen it by now. So it might take several months to find enough people to fill up a tour bus on a week day (no tours on weekends).

I'll be announcing here if and when I'll start taking reservations again.

This year's tour into the power station for Lammaites, organised by Hans Andersen Club instead of myself who organised this tour in former years.

In Cantonese instead of English this time, not sure how much English will be supplemented. On demand, I assume.

Hi everyone,
This is staff representative from the Hans Andersen Club Lamma Island Centre.
Thank you very much posting our poster on the website, it helps a lots in promotion!
Just to clarify, the above activity is organized by Hans Andersen Club and we mainly target for aged 15 or above teenage Lamma residents.
For other individuals who are interested in visiting Lamma Power Station may self-group and submit application through HK Electric.
Many thanks!

Inside Power Station tour: Tue, Aug 1, or Fri, Aug 4, 2017:

HK Electric just called me offering another one of our formerly yearly tours, again mainly for Lammaites, plus a few people with close Lamma connections, for ALL ages above 15, in English.
The widely publicised tour by Hans Andersen Club on July 20 above is in Cantonese (with some English interpretation, if needed) and it's targeted mainly at local teenagers, HK Electric and Hans Andersen Club just told me. This tour above is full now, waitlisted.

Contact me by Private Message, Facebook msg (Lamma Gung), on WhatsApp or SMS (6151 5408), or email (info@Lamma.com.hk) for details and registration. Morning of Aug 1 or 4?
I realise that many people will be out of HK on these two dates, but these are the dates offered so far.
No need to call Hans Andersen Club or HK Electric directly or fill in any forms, as they'll both refer you back to me, I think.

More news from HK Electric about the tour:

"Please note in view of our jack-packed schedule for guided tour to Lamma Power Station, we can conduct visit either on 1 or 4 August.

Based on my past experience in receiving Lamma residents for LPS visit, 1 hour 20 minutes should be reasonably enough to answer most of the questions.

Facilities to be visited will include Visitor Centre, Gas Receiving Station, Turbine Hall of gas-fired generating unit and Solar Power System. In addition, we will catch a glimpse of the construction site of new gas-fired generating units."

From HK Electric today:

"This is to confirm that visit to Lamma Power Station for Lamma residents will be conducted on 4 August 2017, Friday.

Please note:
  1. The number of visitors for each group should be within 15 to 35.
  2. Lamma Power Station is an operational area; visitors should be aged between 15 and 70. At the Company’s discretion, visitors aged 71-75 who are mobile and in good health will also be considered. They should take into account their own safety and will be asked to sign a disclaimer on the visit day.
  3. Wearing of flip-flops and sandals is prohibited.
  4. Visitors should comply with all notices posted in power station and observe safety instructions given by HK Electric.

Facilities to be visited will include Visitor Centre, Gas Receiving Station, Turbine Hall of gas-fired generating unit and Solar Power System.

In addition, we will catch a glimpse of the construction site of new gas-fired generating units.

For photo op, you can get nice pictures at our Solar Power System on G/F which comprises of approx. 1,000 PV modules with power station chimneys as background.

You can provide a few questions in advance and I'll try to answer these questions during the visit.

So, we'll meet at East Gate at 10:30am on 4 August."

I've got to fill in a form for all registered tour participants and we'll need your signature on the form before the tour.

If we haven't met personally yet, I look quite a bit like this drawing from Harry Harrison on the left. Minus the earring.

The tour bus still has space available, so sign up soon directly with me, please.
