Back on topic ... today was warm and sunny so I did some laps at the beach. The algae has cleared and no stingers either, pleasantly clear and refreshing.

I wasn't the only one either.

I hope you kept your daughters out of the water while he was there...

I've heard that drill explanation yesterday night, after Boostcamp. My fellow sweaters are usually reliable sources, way too too tired afterwards to make up stories and rumours....

OK, another quick reply from HK Electric:

"Please be advised that the spillage drill was conducted by Marine Department and we did not have any information about it.

As in previous practice, if there is any exercise/drill that will likely draw residents' attention (like smoke coming out, sirens go off, etc), we will inform local community leaders in advance and write to you to keep your readers informed....

For your information, an annual fire drill will be conducted tomorrow morning, Thu, Nov 17, together with Fire Services Department. But the exercise will be done inside the plant - no smoke, no siren will go off. Some fire engines will enter the plant while a fire boat will berth at our coal jetty."

The SCMP published a photo today with this caption:

"The city's response to a marine oil spill was tested off Lamma Island yesterday during an annual anti-pollution exercise led by the Marine Dept. Emergency responders practised containing oil spewing from a tanker stranded near a beach beside the cooling water intakes for the Lamma oower station. Such a spill would threaten the plant and Sham Wan, a nesting site for sea turtles."
