there are some terrible dog poisoning case on Island again
suspect use meat or attractive food for dog, use Paraquat
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraquat.
strong warning to dog owner, especially new Lamma resident who do not have knowledge about Dog poisoning.
suspect still possess non smell paraquat , old product or probably illegally import from china( since 1997, HK government only allow paraquat with strong smelling and green color )
after dog had paraquat, 1st, they vomit food, then they will continue to vomit, not able to accept water, will have difficulty for breathing, suffer 2-3 days, no antidote
strongly recommend to put muzzles to dog.

Terrible news.
it is a death of agony. My heart goes out to the victims, dog and human.

This is not an isolated case. There was at least one more in January
This poison is not specific to dogs, it will kill cats and us too - anyone.

Has this been reported to the police?
Could you tell us more about the recent poisoning, please.

People new to Lamma, stay alert.
Anyone planning on coming with a dog club or to hike should think more than twice about coming to Lamma.

I actually think that dog poisoning should be well publicised, and day trippers advised not to come to lamma.

Who ever is doing this will most likely earn money from the tourists coming here, and one could only wish they would have their income impacted from their activities.

Wearing a muzzle helps little - paraquat can be absorbed through the paws. So if it is sprayed on grass, the dog can still get it by stepping on it.

Yes, please say where it's been happening, otherwise the warning is useless.

I really don't understand the conversation on the thread....

Is a single person going around Lamma poisoning dogs and cats?
I just moved to Lamma and am getting a dog and cat as quick as I can... please any advice would be appreciated.
