At the pier before catching my 720 ferry i saw a white short hair dog which's got wounds/scars all over its face and to my reckoning even one or two cigarette burns on right side of his body..

I was in hurry and didn't take a photo of it...

I don't know if I'm overreacting here but seeing that poor sight i feel compelled to let if anyone has seen this dog this morning and/or who's its owner?(it's got a collar around neck so i assume its not a stray.)

it also seems like i was the only one who noticed it as everyone was in hurry getting on ferry...

Is the dog a rather small to medium size dog?

Yes, it is small to medium. Brownish(not too dark) eyes? Have you also spotted it?

Hi Kitty, I didn't see the dog, but I guess it would have been Swampy. He follows his carer and sees him off at the ferry every weekday morning and then he would go home. He is quite independent and wouldn't let even his carer touch him. The burn marks you see are from earlier days, when he might have run into some nasty people.

His face is sometimes a kind of pinkish due to his skin problem. If I do run into him in the next couple of days, I'll see if he's okay. But as said, he is very independent and taking him to a vet is not that easy. One consolation: his carers love him dearly.

It does sound like Swampy. I spoke with his "mom" once because he reminds me of my old dog. She said that he was mistreated earlier in life (hence the scars I guess), and he won't even sleep in the house at night, if I recall correctly. But he does follow his family everywhere, escorting them to the pier each morning, and they take good care of him.

Swampy used to live in a swamp in Wang Long but was slowly coaxed out by the family who still care for him. To this day he won't come into their house or let them touch him but he is devoted to them and follows them everywhere. LAWC managed to capture him to desex and microchip him. But when someone threw boiling oil over him, he managed to evade capture despite heavy doses of sedatives (under vet's instructions). Fortunately the wounds, including the burns on his eyes, healed remarkably well on their own. But he is not the prettiest dog in town! He is one of the many Lamma descendants of puppies bred but rejected by the Po Wah Yuen Sharpei breeder.
