Post subject:  Mission & Aims of Lamma Animal Welfare Centre

You might want to know what Lamma Animal Welfare Centre does.

Mission:
The mission of Lamma Animal Welfare Centre is to help animals in distress on Lamma Island, Hong Kong and to bring about the conditions whereby every animal has a good home.

We will achieve this mission by:
  • Generating publicity to enhance awareness of the problems.
  • Educating individuals and the public in Responsible Pet Ownership.
  • Working to pass legislation to eliminate the killing and other abuses of healthy companion animals.
  • Rescuing, caring for and finding homes for abandoned and abused animals.
  • Promoting spay/neuter to stop healthy animals being killed or abandoned every day just because there are more animals than there are homes.
  • Actively spaying and neutering Lamma's stray animals - the humane alternative to trapping and killing, and poisoning.
Help improve the quality of life of all of us living on Lamma!

another part of your mission seems to be to blatantly ignore the safety of the general public when walking an oversize pack of dangerous strays in the hills.

i personally will not spend another cent in your store or donate anything to your cause until you have some proper responsible management in place that takes the issue of public safety seriously

HKDR is a HK-Island-based, HK-wide organisation whose founder, Sally Andersen, lives in Luk Chau Village;
LAWC and LAP are Yung Shue Wan-based animal charities focusing on helping Lamma Island animals and their owners.

Check out LAWC (Lamma Animal Welfare Centre) at http://www.Lammaanimals.org and LAP (Lifelong Animal Protection, formerly Lamma Animal Protection) at http://www.lap.org.hk.

Thank you Alan and Gung for putting the record straight. And Xerxes, apologies accepted. I am glad that you now know more clearly who we are.
