Hi guys,

My neighbor has been keeping a cat in a cage on his balcony for a few years already.

What do you think about this ?

Cheers

Poor darling thing, it must be going mental.

However, unless things have changed in recent years, as long as it has shelter and water (and obviously food) I believe that there is not much the authorities can do. I called the SPCA about a dog in a similar condition, never ever taken for a walk etc, and they could do nothing.

Does anyone know anything else about the law or how to help this poor animal?

I really did not mean to be too negative about helping this cat. Seriously, does anyone know how to intervene and help improve it's life if it is living in a cage?

Nothing you can do legally.
Trying to talk to the owner of a pet about how they treat them usually gets a very defensive and/or hostile response and achieves nothing.

However, is it certain that the cat is in the cage 24/7?
Perhaps it's put in the cage in the daytime and when the owner returns is inside.

We don't cage our cat, but she likes to sit on the balcony to watch the neighbourhood.
