See the email from our new police chief, Joyce Wong.
She's also agreed to a "casual chat", well before the opening of the new police station this summer. Any questions are welcome and I'll collate them to ask her.
"Recently there have been a number of reports received from residents of Cheung Chau Island concerning the discovery of stray dog carcasses and sudden illness of family pets. These reports are being investigated and samples from the animals concerned are being tested for any suspicious substances by the Government Laboratories. Police on the Island are working closely with the SPCA and the community as a whole, to reinforce the message of responsible pet ownership and to encourage residents and visitors to the Island, to report any suspicious activities they may see.
At present, the Lamma Island Police have received no new reports of this nature. However, we would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to remain vigilant and to take control of their animals when walking in public areas. If anyone has information relating to these enquiries, please contact the Report Room of Yung Shu Wan Police Post at 3661 1714."
