I agree, best design and clear message that can be grasped quickly when passing by. The other two posters have unsuitable and inappropriate images for this case, why a burglar and a wheelbarrow? A story by our Pet Correspondent about the two meetings has just gone live on the home page and I've added this poster already: Lamma-zine, Sunday, Oct 9: Police Pursue Dog Poisoner. It also corrects a number of mistakes in Gary's media release above. Alba the Film-Maker, the very first victim to report her poisoned dogs to the police, asked for this message below to be read out at the first Diesel's meeting. Not sure if anybody read it out as I arrived late coming from the very informative, but quite pessimistic police meeting, which was not offering much hope of catching and convicting this sick individual anytime soon. But the police will certainly try their best, within their tight limitations, after having gotten the message from the community loud & clear, I think. Alba wrote: "Sorry, John and I cannot be at this meeting. As most of you probably know we lost our two dogs to the poisoner. We had come to love those dogs so much , they were part of our family. We are convinced that whoever has done this just do not realise the pain they are inflicting on the victims. We would like to be part of any campaign that comes out of the meeting. Our feeling is the emphasis should be on two aspects. 1. Try to build a sense of awareness in the entire community just what pain this type of action is causing. This could be done with a series of leaflets distributed in the community both in Chinese and english written as personal testimonials from victims. Just maybe this will prevent another round of poisoning 2. A major campaign in the wider community to bring attention to the danger of paraquat to peoples' , especially children's health. When one witnesses the horrible death this brings to dogs it is inconceivable the same happening to a child. We think this can only be done through the media if some media channel is prepared to take on the cause. Regards, Alba" |

Great work Gary. Great posters, do you have a Cantonese version? |

Mia who helped me with the posters doesn't know Chinese so we tried to make it symbolic but if there's anyone who's willing to change the 3 lines of English to Cantonese, you're more than welcome. It was made on Powerpoint then converted to JPG so it's simple enough to change. All I have to do is to pass the file. If there's anyone, please let me know. I appreciate all the help & support. |

I've just been updated that a "joint multi-agency working group has been formed up by Police, FEHD, SPCA and AFCD. The group had the first meeting on 2011-10-11 and formulated the forward strategy." I'm trying to find out now what this "forward strategy" is and how many dog poisonings have been reported so far, well before tomorrow's 2nd meeting in Diesel's at 8pm, I hope. |

The 2nd Dog Killer meeting planned for tonight, Thu, Oct 13, has been postponed to Mon, Oct 17, 8pm, in the Football Pitch (to be confirmed). One more poster below, seen yesterday outside the former Just Green Organic Convenience Store, which has just relocated to a harbourfront location nearby.
